ii. a cosmic guide to 21C 21C is often defined by its overwhelming mass of information, theories and disciplines. Mass media and technology offer access to unprecedented amounts of data and opinion. In this Information Age we are warned to be selective about what we read, watch and listen to, so we are able to perhaps shape our own ever-growing libraries of knowledge and wisdom based on personal truths and intuition. As the pursuit of liberation continues for those who have been silenced and marginalised, an awareness has grown of the many voices inside both cultures and individuals. How we make sense of the self in such a society – the way we relate inwardly and outwardly – is a challenge to all requiring, or desiring, a language to describe the experience of life. Astrology, as one of the ancient wisdoms, has become a discipline more exoteric in nature than in times gone by when it fell under the domain of esoteric knowledge - a mystery to be deciphered by a select few. Now, one only has to enter a search on the web or visit a local bookshop or library to gain access to such voluminous texts. This section covers three main areas of investigation:
The inspiration
for this research stems from the work of many astrologers, most notably
Jeff Green, Liz Greene, Howard Sasportas and Alan Oken, to name only
a few. I am drawn to Oken’s view of astrology as ‘not
only a tool for the viewing of an increasingly unifying humanity,
but a vehicle for gathering those people who seek to know and share
what they have discovered.’1 But
